-Description

Vacheron Constantin is a watch brand founded in Geneva, Switzerland in 1755. It is considered to be the oldest watch brand in the world that has continued uninterrupted since its inception.

Along with Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet, it is said to be one of the three most luxurious watch brands in the world.

Ref.6694 is a 1960s automatic dress watch with a calendar, the Chronometre Royal.

The Chronometer Royal originated as a pocket watch that was introduced in 1907, and as the name chronometer suggests, it was a model that pursued accuracy.

The following year, in 1908, the trademark was registered as "Chronomètre Royal" and it was sold primarily in the South American market. It is said that it was given the name "Royal" because it was aimed at wealthy people.

It was later launched as a hand-wound wristwatch in the 1950s, and in the 1960s it was redesigned and marketed as an automatic watch.
Both of these watches passed the chronometer standard and boast the highest class of precision.

Referece 6694 was released in 1962 and is equipped with Vacheron Constantin's first chronometer-certified automatic movement Cal.K1072.

The most notable feature is the case design with distinctive wing-like lugs. It is very popular among collectors, partly because of its radical design, which is a departure from the round cases of the past.

The name 'Batman' was given to this watch on the Vacheron Constantin forum The Hour Lounge, which once existed, because the lugs are shaped like Batman's ears, and the name has become firmly established among collectors.

The case size is 35mm. Coupled with the design of the lugs, it has a slightly more voluminous feel than the numerical value.

The case is made of 18K white gold. The bezel has a polished finish, and the lugs have a hairline finish that follows the case. The sides are finished in the opposite combination, showing the delicacy of the finishing.

Another point is that the case back is engraved with the words Chronometre Royal and the Maltese cross.

The dial is a silver dial with a sunray finish. Due to aging, it has become a nice ivory color, giving it the feel of 60 years. A diamond is set in the middle of the Maltese cross, which stands out as an accent among the simple bar hands and indexes.

The movement is equipped with automatic winding Cal.K1072. This Jaeger-LeCoultre movement was supplied exclusively to Vacheron Constantin and Audemars Piguet (as Cal.K2072).

Features such as the guilloché-engraved 18k gold rotor and ruby rollers on the rotor supports can be seen.

This movement is not only artistic, but also highly reliable in terms of operation as it has obtained the Geneva Seal, which is stricter than chronometer standards.
