【Description】

The GMT-Master is one of Rolex’s most iconic professional models, along with the Submariner, Daytona and Explorer.

Its history is closely tied to the aviation industry.

The GMT-Master was developed in 1955 as a navigational device to show the time in two time zones for professional pilots who flew around the world in all directions.

It was famously used by the American airline Pan American Airways (Pan Am Airways) as its official watch, but has also been a favorite of NASA and U.S. Air Force pilots and international businessmen.

The GMT-Master II was introduced in 1982 as the successor to the GMT-Master I and is capable of displaying three time zones.

This watch, Ref. 16710, was the second model of the GMT-Master II and was produced from 1990 to 2007.

It was only available with a red-black bezel (a.k.a. “Coke”) for the duration of the GMT-Master I line up, and after 1999, when the GMT-Master I was discontinued, it was also available in black, red-blue (a.k.a. “Pepsi”).

The vivid two-tone red-blue Pepsi bezel is one of the most popular GMT-Master models.

This piece was produced in 2000 and has tritium luminescent paint and an integrated flush fit on the bracelet.

The case has been lightly polished. There is no weight loss.

Compared to the current model, the lugs are narrower and sharper looking than the current model, so despite the same case size, it feels a bit smaller on the wrist in person, even in photos.

The current model with ceramic bezel is also attractive, but it has a good overall form and a good vintage look.
If you are interested in this part of the world, I highly recommend it.

Comes with a warranty (warranty card) and a red tag from 2001 when it was sold.
