-Description

The Day-Date is Rolex's ultimate status watch. Introduced in 1956, it was the world's first waterproof self-winding chronometer wristwatch that displayed the date and day of the week in full spelling on the dial.

The case is made exclusively from 18K gold or platinum. It is the only Rolex watch with a day of the week display, and by using limited materials, it has established itself as the company's top-of-the-line watch.

The Day-Date is also known as the "President's Watch." The name originated from when it was presented to the 34th President of the United States, Dwight Eisenhower, and the name became established as it was worn by successive presidents thereafter.

The Day Date is also sometimes referred to as the 'President's Watch'. The name originated with the presentation of the watch to Dwight Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States, and it has since been worn by successive presidents.

Reference 1803 is the third generation Day-Date, a vintage model produced from the 1960s to the late 1970s. This example was manufactured around 1972.

The case is made of 18k white gold. At first glance, it appears to be stainless steel, but a closer look reveals a very subdued luster typical of precious metals.

The dial is a silver dial with a silky finish. It is called a "Linen Dial" in the market. It is characterized by a glittering and fine luster when light hits it.

The hands are bar hands and the indexes are thin bar indexes, with two bars in parallel only at 6 and 9 o'clock. Due to its multi-faceted cut, it appears black from some angles.

The luminous paint is applied only to the hands, but it has faded black and is integrated with the hands. The condensed design with the outer periphery of the dial lowered by one step and the raised plastic crystal are features unique to the vintage Day-Date with a four-digit reference.

The movement is the automatic winding Cal.1556. This is an updated version of Cal.1555, and was installed in the later model of reference 1803. A hack function was added and the vibration frequency was increased to 19,800 vibrations.

Since the watch does not have a quick change calendar, the day and date are adjusted by moving the minute hand back and forth.

It comes with genuine Rolex steel buckle.
