-Description

Datejust is the Rolex's most famous automatic watch, was born in 1945.It is widely known as a watch that anyone can recognize at a glance from its distinctive appearance.

The Datejust mechanism, which instantly changes the date at midnight, is regarded as one of Rolex's three greatest inventions, together with the Oyster case and the automatic Perpetual mechanism, and the Datejust collection is the culmination of all these features.

This Datejust, with its bidirectional rotating bezel with numerals for measurements, is officially known as a Turn-O-Graph.

The ref. 16264 is the third generation Turn-O-Grapht hat was produced from around 1988 to 2004.

There are no major design changes compared to the second generation, but the Arabic numerals on the bezel become larger, giving it a more sophisticated impression.

The name "Thunderbirds" comes from the nickname of the U.S. Air Force acrobatic team, the Thunderbirds, which was founded in 1953.

When a member of the Thunderbirds used the Turn-O-Graph, word spread throughout the team, and the military officially requested Rolex to supply them with watches.

Using this relationship, Rolex released a special edition Turn-O-Graph with an 18K gold case featuring the Thunderbirds logo for the U.S market.

They began advertising the watch as the "Thunderbird," and the name became widely known.

The case is 36mm diamter, the same as other Datejust, and has a chronograph-like bi-directional bezel, giving it a sporty look.

The dial is made of a very rare pink shell. Also known as mother-of-pearl, this dial is a special dial that is unique to natural materials, as its color and luster change depending on how the light hits it.

The pink shell dial has a pale yellowish white base color, with pink hues popping out depending on the angle, giving it a gentle impression.

The indexes also feature Arabic numerals, which is also a very rare combination as it is rare to see this type of Thunderbird.

The movement is the automatic Cal. 3135. Even now, about 30 years after its release, it continues to be regarded as one of the best movements in the watch industry.

This is a highly refined movement in that its accuracy can be maintained indefinitely with regular maintenance and it is also easy to maintain.

The bracelet is an Oyster bracelet 78360. It has 13 links.

This watch comes with the original box and guarantee paper. In addition to the rare dial, it also comes with a guarantee, making it a very valuable item.
