-Description

Patek Philippe is a watchmaker founded in Geneva in 1839. The company makes watches without any compromise by utilizing its overwhelming quality and technical capabilities.

The independence of the family business and the reliability that all watches can be repaired create a value as an asset that can be passed down from generation to generation.

This watch is the brand's iconic Calatrava reference 1491 which was produced from 1940 to 1965 in a production run of about 400 pieces. This example was produced in 1952.

The case is made of 18K yellow gold and measures 33mm, which is large for a watch of this period. The most distinctive feature of this watch is the shape of the lugs, which are called "scroll lugs" or "curly lugs" and have a special swirling silhouette.

This is a unique and original shape that is unmatched among vintage Calatrava watches, and gives the watch its uniqueness. The shape is best appreciated when viewed from the side or a little lower than from the front.

The dial is matte white dial. It is a very beautiful dial with its whiteness well preserved. It has a typical Calatrava combination of bullet-shaped indexes, thick dauphine hands, and a blued steel second hand.

The movement is the hand-wound Cal.27 SC. It was produced between 1949 and 1970 as a special center second movement and was used in many Calatrava watches.

It comes with an Extract from the Archives issued in 2019. Fully serviced by Patek Philippe in Switzerland in 2020.

At the time of service, the crystal was replaced, the hands were polished, the yellow gold crown and spring bar ware replaced with brand new, the strap was replaced, and yellow gold buckle was purchased.

Comes with an Extract from the Archives, a copy of the repair invoice, an original YG buckle, a genuine leather strap, and a genuine service leather case.

*If the dial was repainted or replaced by someone other than the manufacturer, or if the dial is different from the original, this will be noted in the Remark field when the archive is issued.
