In 1969, Seiko launched the world's first quartz watch, the "Quartz Astron," and the mainstream of wristwatches began to shift from mechanical to quartz.

This watch is a practical line of quartz watches released in 1971, and it is called 38 quartz to distinguish it from other quartz watches because it is equipped with a 38 series movement, and it is described as 38 QT in the catalog. It was done.

Although it is a practical line, it is a luxury watch that was sold at a higher price than Grand Seiko at the same time when quartz was very expensive.

This watch has a case with a nice combination of curves and planes that is typical of Seiko, and an Arabic numeral dial, which is one of the few types of design in Seiko. The

dial is a cream-colored dial with fine irregularities on the surface. It is sandblasted by spraying particles on the surface of the board, and it can be described as diamond dust because it shines brilliantly. The

hand is a thin baton hand, and the second hand is a two-tone color with 1/4 white and the rest black.

Because it is an early quartz watch, the part where the battery enters is thick, and the maximum is 13 mm, but it does not bother me when I wear it.

The mark above 6 o'clock is a mark that imitates the crystal used for quartz watches, and below that is a mark indicating that it was produced at the Suwa factory.
